Mobile Medical Clinics

Healthcare is one of the three key pillars of AIAIA.

We strive to increase access to resources that improve the physical, mental, and emotional health of communities. In spring of 2025, AIAIA provided funds to the rural town of Malungeni in collaboration with the Department of Health in that region of the Eastern Cape to purchase essential medical equipment. This equipment is used by their healthcare team to conduct mobile medical clinics for residents of Malungeni and the surrounding area.  Pop-Up Clinics aim to increase access to coordinated general and specialty healthcare and to decrease barriers such as transportation and excessively long wait times.

151 people attended the most recent clinic on July 21, 2026. During the mobile clinics, a variety of services are provided, including health education, social work support, well-baby visits, immunizations for children, family planning,  HIV testing, counseling, and vaccinations. In addition, providers offer TB testing, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, eye screening, and tooth extractions.

These Pop-Up Clinics have shown high rates of community attendance, and those who participate have expressed great appreciation to the many skilled clinicians who come to provide them care.  

Accessible healthcare is an essential component of empowering communities, and AIAIA is extremely grateful to the healthcare team and members of the community who organize, facilitate, and provide the services at these life-changing events.
