Contrasts

Our Saturday began by visiting the FLY (Fun Learning for Youth) School. The school is a weekend tutor program that meets on Saturdays for high school children. This is a market in Cape Town’s city center where artists and traders meet from all corners of the African continent to sell a wide range of fabrics, sculptures, art, and beadwork. In addition to shopping, there are several entertainers that sing and dance to raise money for their families.   DSC_0579 Following the market, we traveled to The School of Divinity in Stellenbosch where the framework of the apartheid began. It was difficult for us to imagine that such a one-sided racial mandate could have happened in this beautiful place.   IMG_1059Our final destination was the Township of Khayamandi that sits in the seat of one of South Africa’s most popular wine destinations.
